Lions Club hosts annual tournament

The Louisville Lions' Club Golf Tournament roared with success July 17 as thirty-one teams competed for the top spots in four golf flights.

The annual Louisville Lions Club fundraiser garnered a competitive yet fun day for the participants with door prizes awarded at lunch and several prizes offered by Crowson Auto World for a Hole in One on selected holes. While no one earned the top Hole In One Prizes, most left with smiling and sweaty faces and with 16 golfers leaving with trophies for the days efforts.

Winners for the tournament were:

First place, first flight Kenny Boreland and Steve Sinclair

Second place, first flight Greg McDaniel and David Hill

First place, second flight Billy Reynolds, Jr and Bill Reynolds, Sr.. Billly Reynolds also earned $100 for the closest to the hold on hole 16.

Second place, second flight Tim Butts and Buddy Butts.

First place, third flight Terry Kelley and Mike Patrick

Second place, third flight Bernard Fulton and Leonard Fulton

First place, Championship Flight Konn Simsiriwong and Justin Hillhouse

Second place, Championship Flight Wade Hailey and Daniel Hailey.

Closest on hole No. 7 was Jackson Hailey who won $100.

The tournament has been held by the Lions Club for over 20 years now. The proceeds from the tournament support care for the blind, eyeglasses, community projects, the library, The Winston County Chamber of Commerce, and other good community causes.

Through the Lions Clubs International Foundation, Lions Clubs tackle global problems such as blindness and hearing loss and respond to major catastrophes such as earthquakes and floods. The foundation helps Lions serve their local communities by partnering with them to build schools, health clinics and vocational training centers for the disabled.
