Winston County to receive EFS funding From press and staff reports Winston County has been awarded $18,900 by the Emergency Food and Shelter (EFS) Program. The EFS Program is a federal program administered by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security's Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) "to supplement and expand ongoing efforts to provide shelter, food and supportive services" for the nation's hungry, homeless, and people in economic crisis. Counties in the First district were awarded over $468,297 from the program. "This significant federal funding will provide much-needed relief to North Mississippi families struggling under today's tough times," said Congressman Travis Childers of the First District. "I recently had the opportunity to visit local food pantries in the district. EFS awards will allow these food pantries to better serve more constituents, helping hard-working North Mississippians put food on the table and make ends meet." Calhoun County $10,147 , Chickasaw County $14,701 , Choctaw County $5,949 , Clay County $19,004 , Grenada County $16,274 , Itawamba County $16,912 , Lafayette County $23,603 , Lee County $57,708 , Lowndes County $39,179, Marshall County $26,347, Monroe County $32,607, Panola County $26,288 , Pontotoc County $19,464 , Prentiss County $20,888 , Tate County $18,039 , Tippah Count $18,781 , Tishomingo County $14,538 , Union County $17,950 , Webster County $6,869 , Winston County $18,900 , Yalobusha County $11,690 Additional jurisdictions may be selected at a later date by the EFS Program State Set-Aside Committee.
