Head Start holds annual Thanksgiving event By Joseph McCain The Winston County Journal The Winston County Complex Head Start celebrated Thanksgiving with performances by the children and a luncheon. The annual event featured all 14 classrooms presenting either songs, a list of things to be thankful or other holiday wishes. Regional Director Mattie Cooper opened the event welcoming the overflowing crowd of parents, grandparents and head start supporters. "It is great to see all of you," said Cooper. "The staff and children have worked hard to present this program for you." Head Start is a national school readiness program that aims to provide a comprehensive education, health, and parental involvement services to low-income children and families.
