In three recent meetings the Louisville Board of Aldermen have covered an array of issues.
In the November 4 meeting, the aldermen:
Accepted the low bid on the flooring project of the new Polo Custom Products building to complete the Community Development Block Grant funds for the project. The board also approved payment of $18,195 for the completed security system at the new building.
Approved appointment of Robert Higginbotham to the Coliseum Board and heard a request from a citizen to set a meeting with the coliseum board.
Approved Louisville Police Chief L.M. Claiborne's plans to help form a Citizen's CORE Council in the community. The 11-member board is intended to oversee functions of volunteers in such areas as neighborhood watch and other matters.
Approved signing up the Louisville Police Department to allow sales of accident reports online.
Approved $92,105.52 for October bills.
Discussed clothing allowance for Louisville Police Officers and the need to hold off on use of uniform allowance until city property taxes begin being paid.
Approved Chief Claiborne to seek new officer after recent verbal resignation of an officer.
In a special called Oct. 28 meeting, the board:
Held an executive session followed by the action of accepting a verbal resignation from a Louisville Police Officer.
In the regular, October 21 meeting, the board:
Approved the lowest bid by Wright Steel to repair the roof of the Coliseum and several other areas with CDBG funds. The overall repairs and improvement will use $375,709.20 of grant funds. Board members noted the $40,000 difference to the next closest bid and the additional improvements that could be made with the lowest bid.
Held a discussion on when the Chief of Police must get approval on training and the recent disapproval of attendance at one training seminar.
Postponed to unclean property hearings until the Nov. 18 meeting.
The Louisville Board of Aldermen was scheduled to meet November 18 at 5 p.m.
