The Boys and Girls Club of Winston County celebrated its opening with a lot of smiles last week.

Students participated in a variety of activities including pumpkin crafts, computer games, and a baseball drill used by professional athletes.

Students of the week who showed exceptional behavior were Shamar Eilan, Chazwon Pease, William Rockett, and Dezirae Thames. These students were allowed to be the first club members to try out our video games!

"We are proud of sixth grader Justin Jones for being selected for the Junior BETA club at Louisville Elementary School," stated Unit Director Lori Matzek.

"Thank you to our wonderful volunteers who made a great week possible: Philip Cunningham, Chassity Goss, DeAndrea Goss, Carolyn Hampton, Janice Hopkins, Dasmond Howard, Kristin Matzek, Matthew Matzek, Chris Mays, Ebony Mays, Gwenita Mays, Sabrina McNeal, Terron Neal, Elmetra Patterson, Madelyn Reed, Demetrice Roach, Kendralyn Roberson, Chris Smith, Ashley Triplett, and Jenny Vowell," stated Matzek.

The Boys and Girls Club is in need of flash cards, puzzles, board games, and children's books of all reading levels. To donate materials or to fill out a volunteer application, please come by the club at 190 W. College Street, Monday-Friday, 3-6pm.
