A small battalion of educators were welcomed Friday to the Louisville Municipal School District during an orientation program held at Louisville High School.

Many were veterans of the school district and others were fresh faces ready to see the district.

Superintendent Harry Kemp opened the meeting and remarked to veterans and newcomers during one portion that "We should always be excited about our profession...We are lucky to start a each year with a new group and a new day."

Mary Ann Bellew, a veteran educator, outlined to the attendees the importance of their role and that it was everybody's job to educate the children. She noted it started with the parents and should be aided by the teachers, administrators, and all persons in the school system and the community. Bellew also noted that some days would be better than others for an educator and she illustrated the importance of perseverance and working in different ways with the students.

The attendees also heard from other officials and were entertained by some of their fellow staff members such as Lori Young and Master Sgt. Carl Wiggins.

Students will enter the classrooms today (Wednesday, August 6).
