The Winston/Louisville Main Street Association continues to compile a Pictorial Living History about Winston County for an upcoming book.

Julie Chase who heads up the committee encourages all citizens to bring historical photographs to the Louisville/Winston County Chamber of Commerce to have the photographs scanned and identified.

"We are hoping to have a history of the whole community," said Chase. "We are hoping photographs of old schools, classes, doctors, and much more."

Chase added that the group aims to feature letters about the community, and all the persons and families that helped build the community.

"We are needing more photographs of lives in Winston County," said Chase.

Chase along with several volunteers recently went through identifying persons and places in the huge collection of photographs in the Louis Taunton collection that had recently been donated to the Winston County Library.

Chase noted the group would be meeting again at 9 a.m. Friday, February 15 and encouraged any other volunteers to visit and help identify photographs or bring their own photographs for scanning.

Persons may also mail historical photos (either on CD or paper) along with information about the pictures to Preserve Winston County, P.O. Box 551, Louisville, MS 39339 or dropped off at the community house. Please include contact phone number with the pictures.
