The Winston County Youth Association is now accepting applications for umpires for the upcoming baseball and softball seasons. Minimum age of applicants is 16 years old. Applications can be picked up at the WCYA office in the Louisville Coliseum, or by calling Angela at (601) 562-3238.
Classes offered
Beginning and advanced welding classes, and beginning and advanced computer classes will be taught at the Winston-Louisville career and technology center (Vo-Tech) beginning in January.

Wellness Connection to offer ballroom dance
The Wellness Connection of Oktibbeha County Hospital will offer a six-week session of ballroom dance classes for couples beginning, Thursday, January 17.
Barbara Frank will teach classic dances each Thursday from 7-8 p.m. in the OCH HealthPlex Aerobic Studio. Participants will learn dances such as the swing, waltz, rumba, cha cha, and the fox trot.
Those who are interested should pre-register by Wednesday, January 16. The fee for Wellness Connection members is $50 members and non-members is $65. For more information or to register, call 323 WELL (9355).

Holy Spirit Conference 2008 to be held
There will be a Holy Spirit conference beginning at 1 p.m., Friday, January 18, 2008 at the Louisville First United Methodist Church. A $10 spaghetti dinner will be served at 6 p.m. The Healing services will begin at 7:30 p.m. Friday, January 18 and the final services will begin Saturday, January 19 from 8:30 to 12 p.m.
Winston County Democratic Executive Committee to meet
Please attend a special meeting at 10 a.m on January 19, 2008 at the Court House to discuss Precinct Caucuses. Temporary chairpersons must be appointed and training information must be provided for the February 23, 2008 caucuses at all 12 precincts. This meeting is open to all Democratic residents of Winston County who are interested in building up the party and participating in the political process. Tour the winter sky at Noxubee Refuge
Join the Friends of Noxubee Refuge for a tour of the winter sky, Mars and the moon. Even if it is cloudy, the group will still look at the constellations of the winter sky and enjoy fellowship with Mississippi's foremost astronomer, Jim Hill, at the second darkest location in Mississippi. celebration to be held
The Winston County Branch NAACP will celebrate the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday on Monday, January 21, 2008. The celebration will consist of a parade through downtown Louisville and a short program immediately following the parade at Mt. Moriah Baptist Church. The parade participants will line up at 9 a.m. at Mt. Moriah Baptist Church and the parade will begin at 10 a.m. Parade entry fee is $5.
Nanih Waiya water association to meet
The Nanih Waiya water association will hold their annual meeting on Tuesday, January 22, 2008 at 6:30 p.m. at the Nanih Waiya Volunteer Fire Department. All interested members are encouraged to attend.
Marriage conference to be held

Sta-Home Health Agency to host Relay for Life fundraiser
Sta-Home Health Agency will host a fish fry on January 25, 2008 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Plates will consist of two pieces of fish, French fries, coleslaw, and bread. The price is $6 per plate.

ECCC Offers Quickbooks at Louisville
"Introduction in Quickbooks" is being offered at the Louisville High School Vo-Tech through the Louisville/Winston County Chamber of Commerce and is sponsored by the East Central Community College's Small Business Development Center.
Classes will be held on five consecutive Tuesdays beginning on February 5, 2008 from 6 to 8:30 p.m. The class is open to the first ten participants who RSVP by January 25, 2008.
Ledale Reynolds will be serving as instructor.

WCYA holds baseball/softball sign-up
The Winston County Youth Association announces that sign-up for the upcoming baseball and softball seasons has begun. This includes all Buddy Ball, T-Ball, boy's baseball, and girl's softball leagues. It is open to children who are age 5-14. The age cut-off date is May 1. Registration forms will be distributed through the schools, and can be picked up at the WCYA office located in the Louisville Coliseum. The deadline for registration is February 23, 2008.
