OCH to host Breast is Best program

Oktibbeha County Hospital is hosting a "Breast is Best" class for expectant mothers who plan to or are considering breastfeeding.

The class will be held on Thursday's beginning January 10 for four weeks at 6 p.m. in the OCH Educational Facility.

The course is instructed by a certified lactation consultant and addresses the breastfeeding positions, problems/solutions, hints for working moms and much more.

The course fee is $60. To pre-register or for more information, call 615-3364.

Yoga offered at the Wellness Connection

The Wellness Connection of Oktibbeha County Hospital has slated a six-week course of yoga classes. The class will meet on Tuesday from 6:30 until 8 p.m. beginning January 15.

The fee to attend the class is $40 for members and $50 for nonmembers. The classes, which will cover stretching, deep breathing, relaxation and stress relief, will meet in the HealthPlex Aerobic Studio with Aneva McMinn instructing.

Wellness Connection to offer ballroom dance class

The Wellness Connection of Oktibbeha County Hospital will offer a six-week session of ballroom dance classes for couples beginning, Thursday, January 17.

Barbara Frank will teach classic dances each Thursday from 7-8 p.m. in the OCH HealthPlex Aerobic Studio. Participants will learn dances such as the swing, waltz, rumba, cha cha, and the fox trot.

Those who are interested should pre-register by Wednesday, January 16. The fee for Wellness Connection members is $50 members and non-members is $65. For more information or to register, call 323-WELL (9355).

Louisville First United Methodist to offer Conference

Louisville First United Methodist Church will offer a Holy Spirit Conference Friday, Jan. 18 and Sat. Jan. 19. The first service is at 1 p.m. Friday, Jan. 18 with a healing service that night at 7:30 p.m. The conference will continue Saturday, Jan. 19 from 8:30 a.m. until noon.

Speakers for the event will include Dr. George Morris, Dr. Bryan Collier, Rev. Eddie Lee Jones, and Rev. Cecil Williamson.

celebration to be held

The Winston County Branch NAACP will celebrate the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday on Monday, January 21, 2008. The celebration will consist of a parade through downtown Louisville and a short program immediately following the parade at Mt. Moriah Baptist Church. The parade participants will line up at 9 a.m. at Mt. Moriah Baptist Church and the parade will begin at 10 a.m. Parade entry fee is $5.

Marriage conference to be held

The Sally Kate Winters Family Services Healthy Marriage initiative invites you to attend a marriage retreat featuring Stained Glass Ministries' Dale and Jena Forehand on January 25-26, 2008. The even is open to all interested couples and admission is free for all registered before January 18, 2008. The even will be held at the Plymouth Bluff Conference Center in Columbus, MS. Second annual pageant to be held

The second annual Miss Philadelphia- Neshoba County and Miss East Central Mississippi pageant will be held Saturday, January 26, 2008 at 7 p.m. This includes girls in Attala, Choctaw, Kemper, Leake, Neshoba, and Winston Counties. Winners of this pageant will proceed to Miss Mississippi 2008.

There will also be a Lil' Miss East Central Mississippi Beauty pageant where everyone will win a crown beginning at 1 p.m. - 5 p.m. Saturday, January 26, 2008. Girls from ages 0-17 are eligible to compete with no talent requirement.

ECCC Offers Quickbooks at Louisville

"Introduction in Quickbooks" is being offered at the Louisville High School Vo-Tech through the Louisville/Winston County Chamber of Commerce and is sponsored by the East Central Community College's Small Business Development Center.

Classes will be held on five consecutive Tuesdays beginning on February 5, 2008 from 6 to 8:30 p.m. The class is open to the first ten participants who RSVP by January 25, 2008.

Ledale Reynolds will be serving as instructor.

Cost of the class is $125.
