Rural Development funds to assist with water, infrastructure, first responder needs
Congressman Chip Pickering announces three USDA Rural Development projects funded in the Third Congressional District for Winston, Noxubee and Wilkinson Counties.
"These USDA Rural Development funds allow local communities to address specific needs from quality of life issues like clean water and healthcare infrastructure, to law enforcement and fire response," Pickering said.
In Winston County, an USDA Community Facility Grant of $24,663 will go to the City of Louisville to assist in the purchase of two police vehicles and one fire department vehicle.
In Wilkinson County, an USDA Water and Waste Disposal loan of $231,000 and a grant of $689,600 will go to the Old River Water Association for the construction of a 100,000 gallon elevated storage tank and a 300 gallons per minute water well. This will supplement the existent storage capacity for the current system and reduce treatment cost. The project will provide healthier and more sanitary water for the 1136 current users and allow for a few additional users.
In Noxubee County, an USDA Community Facility Loan of $4,810,000 will assist the Noxubee County Board of Supervisors in the repairs and purchase of a roof, air conditioning of hospital, storage building, nursing home, and storm drain.
