The British are coming!...for soccer camp

The number one youth soccer company in the United States, Challenger Sport, has been invited to hold one of their nationwide British Soccer training camps in Kosciusko. Challenger Sports is hosting the week-long British Soccer camp during the week of June 25 at Hugh Ellard Park.

The camp will run Monday through Friday and each child will be coached by a member of challenger's British coaching staff flown to the USA exclusively to work on these programs. This camp is just one of 1500 that Challenger Sports are running throughout the US and Canada for a record breaking 65,000 boys and girls of all ages.

British Soccer Camp sessions are available for the following ages:

Ages 3-4 - 5:30-6:30 p.m.: $60

Ages 4-5 - 7:00-8:30 p.m.: $80

Ages 6-16 - 9 a.m.-12 p.m. or 5:30-8:30 p.m.: $100

Each camper will receive a free camp t-shirt, soccer ball, player evaluation, and end of camp gift. In addition, any child who signs up by Friday, May 18 will receive a genuine British Soccer replica Jersey (value $30).

ECCC Offers Several Soccer Camps

Several soccer camps are being offered this summer on the East Central Community College soccer field in Decatur, announced Kenneth Thompson, ECCC soccer coach.

The first instructional clinic is a Seven-A-Side girls' camp on Saturday, June 2. A Seven-A-Side camp for boys is scheduled Saturday, June 9. Cost of each camp is $15 per person.

Also planned is a "Magic Micro Soccer" camp for boys and girls ages four to six scheduled Monday, June 11 through Wednesday, June 13. Instruction will be provided from 6 to 7:30 p.m. each day. Cost is $50 per camper, and additional family members can attend for $45 each. Fees include accident insurance, camp T-shirt and a camp ball. Registration forms should be turned in to the College on or before June 1.

East Central is also offering soccer camps sponsored by Eurotech - the nation's top-rated camp and tour company since 1990 - beginning Monday, July 9 and continuing through Friday, June 13. The Eurotech coaching staff features professional coaches and players from countries including Germany, Holland, Italy, France, Scotland, Norway, Wales, Slovakia, Spain and many more. A Performance Soccer I session, for ages seven to nine, will be held from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. each day. The instructional program features individual skill building, motor skills development, fundamental tactics and goal scoring.

Cost is $110 per camper.

A Performance Soccer 2 session, for ages 10 to 12, is also scheduled from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. This program builds on skill development while further introducing technical aspects of the game, goal scoring, fundamental tactics, small-sided functional games and the Eurotech World Cup Tournament competitions. Cost is $110 per camper.

Also scheduled is a Team Training Session, designed for ages 12 to 18, which will be held from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. and from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. This session offers a more intensive team training program and guarantees results. For some, the program is equivalent to a full season and involves 30 hours of technical/tactical instruction, competitive matches, small-sided games and a variety of team bonding sessions. Cost is $199 per camper. The registration deadline for the Eurotech Soccer camps is Friday, June 29. A $10 late fee will be assessed for campers who enroll past the deadline. A limited enrollment is set for all three sessions.

ECCC Offers Several Area Baseball Camps

East Central Community College is offering baseball camps on the Decatur campus and at various locations in the College's five-county district, announced ECCC head baseball coach Neal Holliman whose Diamond Warriors were recently crowed MACJC State Champions.

Each camp is designed for ages six to 14 and costs $60 per participant, which includes insurance and a camp T-shirt.

The first camp is scheduled June 4-5 (Monday-Tuesday) at the Clark-Gay Baseball Complex at ECCC. Instruction is provided from 2 to 5:30 p.m. each day. Registration begins at 1:30 p. m. on June 4.

A baseball clinic is also planned June 11-12 (Monday-Tuesday) at Ivy Park in Louisville. Instruction will be given from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. both days. Registration is scheduled at 8:30 a.m. on June 11.

Burnside Park in Philadelphia is the location for a camp scheduled June 13-14 (Wednesday-Thursday). Instruction will be provide from 9 a.m. to12:30 p.m. both days. Registration takes place at 8:30 a.m. on June 13.

Girls' softball camps set at ECCC

The annual Lady Warrior softball camp for ages seven to 13 will be held Wednesday, May 30 through Friday, June 1.

Instruction will be provided from 9 a.m. to noon each day by members of the Lady Warrior softball team. Registration will be held the first day of camp.

Parents and friends are welcome to attend all sessions.

Cost is $50, which includes insurance and a camp T-shirt.

Registration forms should be returned to the College on or before May 30, 2007.

Basketball camps for female athletes are again planned this summer at East Central Community College in Decatur, announced Lady Warrior head coach Bill Smith.

A junior high camp - for girls in fourth through eighth grades -will be held June 3-6 (Sunday through Wednesday) in the Brackeen-Wood Physical Education Building. Dorm check-in is scheduled from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, followed by two sessions - the first from 4 to 6 p.m. and another from 7 to 9 p.m. Three sessions will be held on Monday and Tuesday - 8 to 11 a.m., 2 to 4 p.m. and from 7 to 9 p.m. A final session takes place from 9 a.m. to noon on Wednesday.

Cost is $150 for full-time campers and $115 for day campers. A deposit of $40 may be made in advance to satisfy registration will the balance due at the beginning of camp. The fee includes meals (day campers will be provided the noon and evening meals only), dormitory room for full-time campers, accident insurance and a camp T-shirt.

Registration forms should be returned on or before June 1. Parents and friends are welcome to attend any or all sessions.

Football Camp, Competition Scheduled On ECCC Campus

A camp for football linemen and team passing competition are scheduled this summer at East Central Community College in Decatur, announced Warrior head coach Terry Underwood.

The instructional clinic for linemen will be held Monday, June 18 through Wednesday, June 20 on the Warrior football field. Registration will be held at 10 a.m. on June 18. Two practice sessions are scheduled each day.

Cost is $175 for overnight campers and $125 for day campers. Fees include meals, camp T-shirt and housing (for overnight campers).

Two 7-on-7 team-passing camps are again scheduled this summer on the Warrior football field. The first session will be held Thursday, June 21 and the second session is set for Thursday, June 28.

Registration begins at 8 a.m. in the Brackeen-Wood Physical Education Building for each session, followed by a coaches' meeting at 9a.m. Competition gets underway at 9:30 a.m.

Cost is $20 per player, which includes insurance, lunch and a camp T-shirt. A trophy will be presented to the overall champion following each session.

The deadline to register for the June 21 camp is Wednesday, June 20.
