AARP Tax-Aide at Citizen's Bank
The AARP Tax-Aide will be at Citizen's Bank every Friday from February 2 to April 13 from 8 a.m. until 12 noon. AARP Tax-Aide is the nation's largest, free, volunteer-run tax counseling and preparation service. This free service can answer most of the tax issues faced by low- and middle- income taxpayers, with special attention to those age 60 and older. Free E-filing will be available. Family Center to host Health Fair
The Family Center will host a free health fair on Thursday, March 8 from 9 p.m. until 4 p.m. Registered nurses will have booths set up for cholesterol screenings, blood sugar checks, and blood pressure checks. Other consultants will have booths set up for the following: Nutrition, D.A.R.E., Gilbert's Home Health, Sta- Home Health/Hospice, Winston Medical Supplies, Tobacco Quitline, Be in the "Click", Vision Screenings, and Dental Screenings (9 a.m.- 12:30 p.m.)
The JROTC students will assist with the booths. Complimentary packets will be given. Please come and take advantage of this free Health Fair. There will also be door prizes and free nutritional snacks.
Library to close
The Winston County Public Library will close Friday, March 9 at noon and will be closed all day Saturday, March 10 as well as Monday, March 12 to install the new circulation desk purchased by the Friends of the Library.
Pleasant Grove UMC to host Youth Revival
Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church will be having a two night Youth Revival March 11th and 12th. Services will begin at 7:00 p.m. The speaker will be Rev. Demetric Darden. Everyone is invited to attend.
New Zion M. B. Church to hold Revival
Revival services will be held at New Zion M. B. Church the week of March 12th - 16th, with Rev. James Green of Finley Grove M.B. Church of Holly Springs, MS, as speaker for the week. Rev. W. L. Hightower and the entire church family invite everyone to attend nightly at 7:30.

Extension Service to offer rose-growing course
The Extension Service is offering a short course entitled "Introduction to Growing and Enjoying Roses in Mississippi" through an interactive video.
The first 2 hour class begins on March 20th from 6:30 p.m.-8:30 p.m. Subsequent classes will continue to be offered at the same time on Tuesday nights through April 17, 2007.
The registration is $30 per person. For current members of the MMGA registration is $25.00 per person. Registration deadline is February 28th. This fee includes a three ring binder with all course material and compact disc.

Banquet set to honor Norton

NAACP ACT-SO to present youth competition

27th Annual Freedom Fund Banquet
The Winston County Branch of the NAACP will host its 27th annual Freedom Fund Banquet on Saturday, April 28, 2007 at 7 p.m. The banquet will be held at the Winston County Shrine club on Hwy 15 South, Louisville, MS. Guest speaker is the Honorable Justice James E. Graves, Jr. He is the only African American Supreme Court Judge serving in the state of Mississippi.

3rd Annual Bluegrass Festival to be held
The Third Annual East Central Mississippi Bluegrass Festival will be held Friday and Saturday, April 20 and 21 at Wood Institute in Mathiston, located on Highway 403 off Highway 82. Gates open at 4 p.m. Friday and music starts at 5 p.m. Saturday, gates open at 10 a.m. and music starts at noon.
This year's host band will be The Back Porch Pickers along with Larry Wallace Band, Leroy Troy (former Hee Haw cast member), Connie Reedy, The Sparks Family, Long Way to Go, and local talent.
This event will be held rain or shine. Jammers are welcome and encouraged to come and bring their instrument to jam with old and newfound friends.
RVs are welcome, but there are no facilities. Dormitory rooms are available for $20.00 per person per night.
Festival prices are $10.00 for Friday, $12.00 for Saturday, and $20.00 for both days. Advanced tickets will be available two weeks before the festival at Wood College for $9.00 for Friday, $10.00 for Saturday, and $18.00 for both days.

Fair/Louisville Elementary PTA to meet
The Fair/Louisville Elementary PTA will hold its last meeting of the school year on Tuesday, April 17, beginning at 6 p.m., in the Louisville Elementary School auditorium. The keynote speaker will address how to help children prepare for tests.
Mt. Pleasant #2 to sponsor Christian Leadership School
The Mt. Pleasant #2 Missionary Baptist Church will sponsor a Christian Leadership School beginning on Monday night, April 30, 2007, ending on May 12, 2007. The school will begin nightly at 6 p.m.
Courses offered are Baptist Doctrine, Chistian Stewardship, and Developing Literacy Skills.

Bellefontaine School to hold reunion
On Saturday, May 26, 2007 there will be a reunion at Fellowship Baptist Church, Bellefontaine, MS for everyone who attended Bellofontaine School.
