The Second Annual Fishing Rodeo will be held at Legion State Park Saturday, May 13.
The event is set to begin at 7 a.m. with a fun filled four hours of fishing for children 12 and under. The event themed "Kids N Katfish" also offers a casting contest for children ages 7-14.
Last year was a huge success with 180 children fishing. Over 400 people were in attendance. Awards will be given to children catching the most fish plus door prizes will be given to luck winners.
For the rodeo, MDWFP will deliver more than 700 large catfish to Legion State Park and deposit the fish in a netted-off section of the lake, where the children will fish during the rodeo.
The rodeo will open with a welcome from Brian Nunnery, Legion State Park manager. Sherry Hazelwood of the MDFWP will announce the rules and preside over the contest. All children must be accompanied by an adult at the time of registration.
