The Louisville Municipal School District welcomed one new face Monday night and swore in two members.

After the March 4 District 4 election, Cathy Edwards took her seat on the board Monday night. Edwards won the election with 124 votes. Edwards had faced Charles Holmes in the election and Holmes received 83 votes in the election. Edwards is set to serve on the board for a full term which ends March 2011.

Sworn in with Edwards was Cathy Crowell who gained the District 1 seat after LMSD board attorney Jim Keith recommended that the two other opponents in the March 4 special election petitions did not meet state requirements. Crowell is now set to serve out the remaining term of Dr. Robert Schwanebeck who resigned in 2005. Crowell is set to serve until March of 2008 and had been appointed to the position in 2005 with Schwanebeck's resignation.

The board of trustees welcomed Edwards and tackled several issues in the night entering into two executive sessions to discuss student issues.

See next week's Journal for full meeting details.
