Several Winston Countians will be stirring up their best stew on Nov. 5 to participate in and maybe win the Second Annual Winston County Stew Stomp.
This year's Stew Stomp will be preceded the Friday night before by a barbeque honoring the county's first responders and their efforts during recent storms. Tickets for The Q Before the Stew will be $7 a plate. The Q will be held at Lake Tiak O'Khata from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m with the Scott McQuad Band providing the entertainment.
Deadline for cooking teams to register for The Stew Stomp is October 26. Persons may register at the Chamber of Commerce on Park Street- booth space is limited so register today. Also, to enhance the event Main Street will be closed to traffic with all of booths located on Main Street between Columbus and Church.
Events will kickoff with a pancake breakfast and bazaar at First United Methodist Church beginning at 7 am while cooking teams decorate their booths and begin preparing. Local businesses will add to the day's events with sidewalk sales beginning on Main Street at 9 am. Also throughout the day, $325 worth of gift certificates will be awarded to attendees and shoppers of local businesses.
In honor of Veteran's Day, the Veteran's Day parade and program will start at 10 a.m. The parade will lead off with the Louisville Police Department, Louisville High School Marching Band, Melody Makers and local veterans. The parade will end at Citizens Bank where a program will honor the local veterans. A reception honoring the veterans will follow the parade and program and be held in the library. The reception is sponsored by Wal-Mart. All veterans are encouraged to attend.
Through out the day, hamburger and polish sausage will be sold by the Main Street Association including the annual 2005 t-shirt sale.
At noon, local entertainment begins with a live band from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm. Chankayrie will headline the musical event at 4 p.m.
The Stew contest tastings begin at 2:00 pm until 6:30 pm with the public voting on the best stews. Votes will be tallied at 6:30 pm.
After the tallying of votes, the cook-off winner will be announced along with booth decoration winner.

The Veteran's Day Parade and Stew Stomp are the first in a series of fall events planned by the Partnership. Ladies' Night Out holiday shopping is scheduled for Nov. 10, the annual Partnership Banquet for Nov. 17, the Holiday Open House for Nov. 18-19, Early Bird Shopping Nov. 25and the Louisville Christmas Parade Dec. 5
The Partnership Banquet on Nov. 17 will take place at Lake Tiak-O'Khata. Tickets are now on sale at the Chamber office and can be bought from any Chamber board member.
