The Red Hills Arts Foundation will sponsor the second annual "For the Love of Art" on Saturday, March 19.

Tickets for the event are now available at the Jewel Shoppe and Cournoyer's Office Supply in the amount of $65. Tickets for works of art are limited and must be purchased immediately.

Paintings by Wyatt Waters, sculpture by Susan Clark, weaving by Sandra Mayo and wood sculpture by Richard Woodward are a few of the fine pieces ready for purchase with your ticket.

Tickets are limited, so hurry! All proceeds benefit our Community Arts Center.

A reminder that on the last Thursday of each month, the city will collect a maximum of two large household items. These items are collected by request only. Please call City Hall at 773-9201 if a resident wants a large item collected.

Examples of large items may be a washing machine, couch, or similar items. Residents are asked not to put these items on the street until the Wednesday afternoon prior to the Thursday morning collection.

The city requests residents to please pick up litter that has been thrown on the road side in front of their property or adjacent property, which detracts from the cleanliness of Louisville.

A city-wide cleanup day for Louisville is tentatively planned for April 16, and the city encourages everyone to make plans to participate in this event.

Recruitment and Training Program of Mississippi, Inc. is a nonprofit service provider that focuses on improving the quality of life for youths of the community. RTP of MS, Inc. is currently operating an Out-of-School Youth Program in Louisville and the Winston County area.

This program focuses on youth between the ages of 16-21 and assists youths with preparation for college studies and/or a military career. Classes are free and held every day between the hours of 8 a.m.-noon at 919 S. Church Ave. in Louisville.

The Wellness Connection of Oktibbeha County Hospital will offer a two series of yoga classes beginning in March. The evening series will meet on Mondays from 6:30 p.m. until 8 p.m., beginning March 21. The morning series will meet on Thursdays from 10 A.M. until 11:30 A.M. beginning March 24.

Course fee to attend one class per week is $35 for members and $45 for nonmembers. Course fee to attend two classes each week is $55 fro members and $70 for nonmembers

The classes will cover stretching, deep breathing, relaxation, and stress relief. All classes will meet in the HealthPlex Aerobic Studio with Sylvia Milosh and Aneva McMinn instructing.

As a part of Brain Awareness Week, March 14-20, 2005, the Pilot Club of Louisville is sponsoring a "Brain Bee" on March 23, 2005. The event will be held from 8:00 A.M. to 1:30 P.M. in the Allied Health classroom at the Winston-Louisville Vocational Center. Oktibbeha County Hospital's Wellness Connection will offer two six-week belly dancing classes beginning Wednesday, March 23 in the OCH HealthPlex Aerobics Studio. The 6:30 P.M. class is an introductory class, and the 7:30 P.M. is designed for those who have previously received belly dance instruction.

Any woman can learn to belly dance regardless of size, shape, age, or dance experience. Instructor Bobbie Kenna will teach basic movements of belly dancing including head, shoulders, arms, chest, abs, and hips. Class fee for the women-only course is $40 for members and $50 for non-members. Participants should wear clothing that allows free movement, and they should bring a shawl or scarf to accent the hips.

"WHO IS THIS MAN?" is an outdoor Easter drama presented by Saltillo First United Methodist Church.

The drama recreates Jesus' final week of His earthly ministry...from the triumphal entry into Jerusalem, the celebration of the Passover, to the ultimate sacrifice, resurrection, and the ascension. The story comes alive with over 100 church members making up the cast and crew.

The drama begins Wednesday, March 23, 2005, and ends on Good Friday, March 25, 2005, starting at 7:00 P.M. nightly.

Please bring your lawn chair. A nursery will be provided for infants to children three years of age. Church groups are welcome. No admission is charged.

Host pastor is Rev. Tim Green.

The Southern Magnolia Pageant System is now accepting applications for the Miss Tri-City Pageant on Friday night, March 25, 2005, at the McMillian Park Clubhouse in Carthage, Mississippi. There are a total of 13 different age groups at the pageant. They include the 0-23 month division, 2-3, 4-5, 6-8, 9-11, 12-13, 14-17, 18 and up, and the Mrs. division. For boys, divisions include 0-23 months, 2-3, 4-5, and 6-8. Contestants should have never been married or pregnant for any division except Mrs. Age groups will compete in on-stage competition only. There is no interview, swimsuit, or talent competition. Also, pageant dresses are not allowed for ages 0-13. Contestants ages 14 and up will wear pageant dresses.

The teen winner will represent her area at the Miss Teen Mississippi Magnolia State Pageant and the Miss winner will represent her area at the Miss Mississippi Magnolia State Pageant to be held December 3-4, 2005, in Vicksburg. These winners will receive a $500 scholarship at the state pageant and a cruise. The Mrs. winner will represent her area at the 2006 Mrs. Mississippi Wife of the Year Pageant to be held in December of 2005. Younger winners ages 0-13 will represent their areas at the Miss Mississippi Southern Magnolia State Pageant in Jackson at the Jackson Marriot on May 28, 2005.

A "Homebuilder's Workshop for Couples" marriage seminar will be held on April 1 and 2 at First Presbyterian Church in Louisville. Dr. Guy Richardson, president of Reformed Theological Seminary in Jackson, and his wife Denise will be the guest speakers. The conference will begin Friday evening at 6:30 with a steak dinner. The Southern Angels Spring Event will be held at the New Albany Fairgrounds Lady's Building on April 2, 2005, beginning at 1:00 P.M. There will be an admission fee for all non-contestants ($3.00 adults/$1.00 children) at the door. Entry fees are $25.00. Optional categories with an additional $5.00 fee include the most photogenic (must provide own picture), best fashion, and congeniality. The Spring Event will feature Sunday best only. Please, no pageant wear.

Rehearsal will be Friday, April 1, 2005, from 6 P.M. until 8 P.M.

Crowning divisions for girls are 0-12 months, 13-23 months, ages 2-3, 4-6, 7-9, and 10-12. Crowning divisions for boys are 0-12 months, 13-23 months, ages 2-3, and 4-6.

The North Mississippi Kidney Foundation is having their fifth annual Educational Program and Golf Tournament on May 20, 2005, at Big Oaks Golf Club in Tupelo, MS.

Prizes will be awarded to first and second place teams, closest to the hole, and longest drive. Registration begins at 11:00 A.M. Lunch will be provided. The four person scramble golf tournament states at 12:30 P.M.

Since the organization is made up of volunteers and with the threat of Medicaid being cut off, the Foundation has a greater need for financial help to continue helping dialysis patients with medication, transportation, and emergency situations.
