From press and staff reports

Services for a local family who died Saturday in a boating accident will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. in the Louisville High School Auditorium.

Barry Hughes, 33, his wife Anita, 40, and their son Daijour, 6, of 810 Winston St. in Louisville, drowned during a fishing trip, authorities said.

Barry was a sergeant with the Philadelphia Police Department and had served in the department for seven years.

Authorities reported none of the family members were wearing lifejackets.

Beck Funeral Home in Louisville is handling arrangements.

The Hughes's family drowning brought the state number of boating deaths to eleven on the year. There were only nine boating fatalities in all of 2003.
