Stew Stomp and Vet's Day this Saturday

The Winston County Chamber of Commerce and Main Street Association will host its 6th annual Stew Stomp and Veterans Day program this Saturday.

The Nov. 7 date offers a full slate of activities from early morning into the evening. Presently, the Saturday Nov. 7 events begin at 7 am with a Pancake Breakfast at the First Methodist Church and their annual Bazaar beginning at 7:30am.

Cooking for the Stew Stomp feast will begin at 8 a.m. for all teams that enter. Several cash prizes and other items will be given away to the winners of the event.

The veterans attending the event are invited to coffee and snacks at the Chamber of Commerce building starting at 9:30 a.m. The parade lineup will begin shortly afterward.

The Veteran's Day Parade will kick off at 11 a.m. at the Winston County Chamber building and move to the center of downtown where a program featuring Congressman Gregg Harper as the main speaker will be held. Following the Veteran's Day program, attendees can begin enjoying sample bowls of stew from all the contests entrants. The contest will be held from noon until 3 p.m. with the crowd enjoying a various stews and voting for the best. At 3 p.m., the votes will be counted and winners will be awarded cash and other prizes.

For anyone interested in entering a cooking team to earn one of the many cash prizes, please contact the Winston County Chamber at 662-773-3921.

Tickets for sampling the stews and voting will be on sale the day of the event or maybe purchased from the chamber prior to the event. Unique Stewart Pottery stew mugs may also be purchased from the chamber. Stew Stomp Shirts will be on sale for $15 with the winning art student entrant emblazoned on the shirt. All art entrants will be displayed at the event. Several bake sales will also be held downtown in conjunction with the stew contest. A fair will also be ongoing at the old Wal-Mart Parking lot near Dirt Cheap Saturday. In case of rain, the Stew Stomp will be held at Louisville Coliseum.

The Winston County Chamber of Commerce and Main Street is a division of the Winston County Economic Development Partnership.

Local businesses and the Partnership will be sponsoring several other upcoming activities including:
