Louisville Police officer stops mobile meth lab
A traffic stop in Louisville Saturday led to a drug arrest and seizure of an alleged mobile meth lab.
According to the Louisville Police Department, a Louisville Police Detective who is also assigned to the Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics made a vehicle stop Saturday on Highway 15 South near Smyth Lake Road and quickly surmised that the vehicle housed an alleged methamphetamin lab.
The officer arrested Kevin Kirk of Hickory, Mississippi and a former Winston County resident on possession and manufacturing methamphetamin charges.
Another MBN officer was called to the scene to help collect and process evidence. Following the evidence collection and arrest, a special team was called in to dispose of the dangerous chemicals in the vehicle related to the alleged manufacturing of methamphetamin. In addition to the lab, the officers also recovered several grams of the finished product.
Kirk was transported to Winston/Choctaw County Correctional facility.
Louisville Police Chief L.M. Claiborne commended the officer and said, "We will not tolerate illegal drug activities in the community and aim to stem the flow of illegal drugs into the city.
