Members of the Red Hills Arts Foundation have wrapped up the planning stages of the annual Home for Christmas concert featuring Grammy-winning artist and Winston County native Carl Jackson.

Jackson, who has won three Grammys, returns to Winston County each Christmas to take part in the concert, which benefits the Winston County Community Arts Center, located in the old Strand Theater. This installment marks the 14th year of the benefit.

“We feel very fortunate to have people like Carl Jackson who will come and give back to the community,” said Linda Skelton of the Winston County Chamber of Commerce where tickets sold briskly and had less than 20 tickets available for each show.

Two shows will be held for the event with one at 4:30 p.m. and the other at 8 p.m.

As in years before, Jackson will bring along a few friends from Nashville - professional musicians and fellow Grammy winners Larry Cordell, Jerry Salley and Valerie Storey - in addition to the Larry Wallace Band, a bluegrass band based in Starkville, and special guests country music star Bradley Walker and comedian Lonnie Shorr.

In support of the concert, the Chamber will host a Kris Kringle Mart in downtown Louisville on Saturday, Dec. 12. Artisans and other will be in front of the courthouse to display and sell their crafts. In case of poor weather conditions, the artisans will setup in the Blonde-Harris building across the street from the courthouse. Any artist interested in displaying their crafts may contact the Chamber at 662-773-3921. Anyone interested in purchasing tickets to the Carl Jackson concert may also contact the Chamber.

“There will also be great shopping and sales at many of the downtown stores,” said Skelton.
